After the SkillsUSA officers presented the SkillsUSA emblem ceremony, they welcomed Ms. Linda Austin, Executive Director at Appalachian Substance Abuse Coalition. Ms. Austin spoke with students about the dangers of substance abuse and alcohol.

Students in Introduction to Health and Medical Sciences have been learning about infection control this week and proper procedures for donning and doffing (putting on and taking off) PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Cameron B. visited JWU's open house this past weekend. He is a second year Culinary student and dual enrolled through VHCC. It was a woderful experience and helped him make the final decision for future plans. Cameron has decided to attend JWU this fall following graduation.
WCCTEC held a successful Marsh Blood Drive today, with over 40 students and community members stepping up as donors. A big thank you to everyone who supported this important cause!

Promise Program: Today was a proud moment for Washington County Public Schools! We witnessed something truly special as our community gathered at Virginia Highlands Community College to celebrate the launch of the Washington County Promise Program. This commitment by Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia and VHCC marks a major step forward in providing a brighter future for our students.

Serena K., a student in Mr. Casteel's class, used her expert knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve a processor issue in Holston High School's AR Sandtable computer. Her work will help students learn about topography, mapping, and watersheds in an interactive way.
Exciting day at WCCTEC as we kicked off the EmpowerHealth and ManufacturED 360 Programs! Students dove into essential professionalism skills like networking, resume building, mock interviews, professional attire, teamwork, and more. A strong start to shaping the future workforce!
Mr. Casteel's students are continuing to move through the process of app building with the help of CGI professionals.
Culinary I students are at it again! Espagnole was the sauce of the day. The students added their own "spin" for presentation.

From the WCPS Transportation Department: Due to an accident on Interstate 81 and traffic delays as a result, several WCPS buses are delayed in their afternoon routes.
Culinary I is learning "Mother Sauces." Our first sauce was prepared today. They successfully created a Hollandaise Sauce over Eggs Benedict. Multiple learning opportunities were incorporated in this lesson plan.
