Today was a day to remember at the Washington County Career and Technical Education Center! Our SkillsUSA officers were honored at a special luncheon celebrating their leadership, dedication, and achievements. We were proud to welcome distinguished guests: Delegate Israel O’Quinn, David Matlock, Executive Director of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, and Dr. Chad Wallace, Assistant Superintendent of Operations. These inspiring leaders shared words of encouragement and wisdom with our future workforce. It was a powerful reminder of the bright future ahead for our students!

Students in Culinary Arts were in the kitchen today preparing salmon with a demi glaze. Looks good!

We love bragging about our current WCCTEC students—but we never forget the incredible alumni who came before them! Our Hall of Fame is a tribute to former students and their amazing accomplishments—and we’ve recently added a few more shining stars! If you haven’t seen it yet, come take a look and get inspired. Egg-cellent Helpers! Today our Early Childhood students teamed up with Mrs. Hockett’s three-year-old class for some colorful fun — dyeing eggs together! It was a sweet mix of learning, laughter, and lots of bright colors.

WCTEC Students Cash in on Financial Literacy Thanks to People Incorporated, students at Washington County Career and Technical Education Center are getting a crash course in real-world money management. Using Pico 3 VR headsets, students in Mrs. Ruble's Algebra and Geometry classes determined ways to eliminate food waste at a Tex Mex restaurant in virtual reality. The students not only applied their knowledge of equations to complete this task, but they also addressed a real issue that has to be considered in the culinary classroom.

Nurse aide students are in the midst of their required clinical hours at a local senior living facility. Their experience can include anything from taking vital signs such as blood pressure to bathing and grooming.
