Hello falcon families! We are excited to welcome everyone back to school tomorrow. Please read the email about the traffic situation and be mindful that it may take some extra time to get in and out of the school for the first few weeks. Drop off is on the east or west end of the building, there is no drop off in the front as that is reserved for buses only. Students may park on the east end, west end, or the newly paved lot across from the band room. There is no student parking behind the cafeteria, in the front parking lot, or the spaces beside the band room. VHCC and Governor's School students need to report to class tomorrow regardless of online class status for accurate attendance and to receive information about their courses. Upon arrival, students may go to the cafeteria to get breakfast or remain in the 100 or 200s hallways. Students are not permitted into the 400 or 500s until 8:00am. Contact the office with questions at 276-739-3200. Let's have another awesome year, it is a great day to be a FALCON!

For Your Information:
As many of you are aware, the Town of Abingdon’s ongoing Sanitary Sewer Project on East Valley Street and Walden Road will continue into the start of the school year. While the first days back can always feel a little hectic, this construction project may make an already busy time more challenging for some.
We want you to know that we have been working closely with the Town of Abingdon, Abingdon Police Department, and Abingdon Fire Department to help ensure traffic flows as smoothly and safely as possible during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
Schools Impacted:
*E.B. Stanley Middle School
*Abingdon High School
*Washington County Career & Technical Education Center
Traffic Control Support: To assist with traffic management, additional police and fire personnel will be stationed at several key intersections during these times.
*Stanley Street and Thompson Drive
*Boone Street and Main Street
*Tanner Street and Main Street (Morning)
*Tanner Street and Valley Street (Afternoon)
*Pecan Street and Main Street (Traffic will be controlled by the light)
Important Notes:
*If you’re leaving E.B. Stanley Middle School, we recommend avoiding a right turn onto Stanley Street, due to increased congestion. For those of you heading toward East Abingdon, Baugh Lane may be an easier option.
*For all schools, arriving earlier than usual will help ease traffic and reduce stress.
*Please exercise patience and caution as everyone adjusts to the changes.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate these necessary improvements to the Town of Abingdon’s infrastructure. With your help, we’re confident we can ensure a safe and efficient start to the school year for all students.

Our seniors loved the opportunity to visit their elementary schools and see some past teachers! One week to go!

At tonight's school board meeting, our very own Tami Hurley from the Falcon cafeteria was recognized as the Silver Spoon recipient. Every day our staff creates an inviting space for students to enjoy meals and Tami is one of the wonderful people welcoming them in. Thank you all for making our lunch time special!

Thank you to the Virginia State Police, Officer Kayla Riley and the Abingdon Police Department, SRO Brummitt and Coach Main for making the day a huge success. The YOVASO club also had a successful day in the cafeteria with a bunch of freebies and a ton of kids signed the Prom Promise. Arrive alive!
