Foreign Language receives a check from Walmart

Oct 31, 2016

4 teachers standing in front of school sign holding an over sized check On Wednesday, November 16, 2016, Abingdon High School’s Foreign Language Department was presented with a $1000 check by David Reed of Walmart as part of Walmart’s Community Grant Program.  It is the goal of the AHS language teachers to provide opportunities for acquiring 21st Century learning of language skills through the use of technology; therefore, (and in an attempt to show added support to Washington County Public Schools’ 1 to 1 Chromebook Initiative) the Foreign Language department will purchase eight Chromebooks (in addition to the eight already in use) to allow students who have not been issued Chromebooks the opportunity to practice those skills.  It is the hope of the AHS Foreign Language department that through the use of technology in the classroom that students will increase their writing, interpreting, and listening skills and will become doers and creators in the language through more personalized learning opportunities.
